A book that isn't a first edition will give its printing history somewhere near the front page.
Question Author
i thought it had something todo with they numbers, but it says first edition on it
If it doesn't say it is any other edition then it is probably a first edition. Be aware that unscrupulous dealers may have removed the page that says 6th edition 12th impression etc.
Question Author
no pages have been removed as far as i can see,the paper is really weird,it says 'printed on acid-free paper, but the pages look roughly cut and doesnt have a smooth edge
kate what was the name of that book you told me about that is just newly out you have just read it . by somebody Smith lady writer.
The pages are trimmed after they have been bound into the book, sometimes books miss this process having been removed from the production line for any of a number of reasons.
Question Author
to tell the truth/anna smith(great book.)
That's it . Thank you.
The pages may have a deckle edge-this is a deliberate rough cut looking edge. The acid free paper is paper that has been treated to remove natural acids in the pulp, and it lasts longer.
