It's a lovely book. I bought it for my daughter who is training to be a midwife. But i think anyone who was born in the early 50s would enjoy it. How times change!

thanks naomi the follow up title was bugging me havent read farewell to the eastend is that another follow on book?? havent heard of that one and is it good?
Have just ordered both ^^^ books from Amazon. If they are as good as " Call the midwife " they will be well worth reading.
I've read them and really enjoyed them - bought them for my nanny - hard to think people lived like that - makes what we moan about today seem trivial
