No wonder the Bible warns: Do not conform outwardly to the standards of this world !—Romans 12:2,

And when a person follows God’s counsel, everything he does will succeed? (Psalm 1:3)

If you want to succeed at genocide, persecute those who don't share your beliefs or treat women and children as lesser being then follow the Bible.

If you want to be the best a human being can be then give this hideous tome a very wide berth.
Applying in what situation ?

I think your biggest issue with the above is knowing what God's counsel is. For sure I'm not going to believe anyone who claims they converse with God. I'd suspect mental issues.
Yes, absolutely don't conform outwardly to the standards of the world- very good advice- so feel free to ignore all religious, social and political dogma and do the right thing- bravo the Bible for once actually says something useful and meaningful.

'When a person follows God's counsel, everything he does will succeed'- persecuting people with a religious army at your back has indeed worked out well for quite a few people but since that's fairly morally reprehensible and it directly contradicts the first passage you quoted and I feel it has no relevance for me or any other thinking person, so like everything else in the bible I too will go with Bedo's idea and give it a miss.
No - it won't.

You can see Jesus Christ was not just imagining something when he called Satan “the ruler of this world.” (John 16:11)

Also apostle Paul was not just imagining something when he called Satan “the god of this system of things” .....................(2 Cor. 4:4;

You do not take the thought of God seriously, nor the existence of any other spirit person of intelligence. You really have no reasonable basis for taking this mental opinion and attitude; yet you hold to it by blinding yourselves to apparent facts.

There is history to prove that.
I think you need to back up those claims.

How can folk see it is not imagination ?
What part of history proves that believing in Gods have a reasonable basis whilst being skeptical and just believing in science, not ?
Goodlife, //You really have no reasonable basis for taking this mental opinion and attitude; yet you hold to it by blinding yourselves to apparent facts. //

Ironic.

There will be “no peace . . . for the wicked ................. Isaiah 57:21

If you like to review a bit of history to see how great a witness to all the nations about God’s kingdom has been given, and who is giving such witness. As far back as Gen 3:15

That first prophecy given in Eden also stated that Satan would produce a “seed.” His seed would express enmity, or hatred, for the seed of the woman. Who make up the seed of the serpent? All those who imitate Satan’s hatred of God and oppose God’s people. Throughout history, Satan has organized his seed into various political movements.

Don,t you watch the news.

The fact that sectarianism has blinded the hearts of the vast majority of those who own Christ’s name, so that they cannot appreciate the real good news of the coming Kingdom of God and the blessed work it is to accomplish, yet God has so arranged that the gospel itself is being preached as a witness.(Matt 24:14)

Naomi@How ironic that in seeking to establish your righteousness, the scribes and the Pharisees ended up violating the very Law that they claimed to uphold!

And all the centuries of debates over words and other minutiae of the Law did not bring them closer to God.

The effect was similar today the deviation caused by what the apostle Paul called “empty speeches,” “contradictions,” and false “knowledge.” (1 Timothy 6:20, 21) Yes another serious problem for you.
Here's another fact goodlife, you have become tiresome.
Goodlife, //Naomi@How ironic that in seeking to establish your righteousness...//

Unlike you, I don't and never have sought to establish my righteousness. You're the interminable preacher.
Er, Goodlife, try reading the proper bible.

Psalm1:3 states:

And he shall be like a tree planted by the water-side: that which will bring forth his fruit in due season.

Slightly different from your quotation.
/How ironic that in seeking to establish your righteousness, the scribes and the Pharisees ended up violating the very Law that they claimed to uphold! /

Goodlife what makes you think that you are any better or different? You are insufferably vain and arrogant with your self righteous delusions and fundamentally dishonest by declaring as 'truths' unsubstantiable myths. Believing something to be true does not make it so.
perhaps Goodlife would like to explain why god's own words, quoted in the Bible as if from the mouth of god directly, claim god as the source of evil.
Isaiah ( whom goodlife likes to quote especially) ch 45, v.7 " I am the lord and there is none else. I form the light and create darkness; I make peace and create evil. I am the Lord that doeth all these things."
Also, see Amos, ch 3, v.6 "Shall evil befall a city, and the Lord hath not done it ?"
Also Job, ch 2 v 10, "Shall we not receive good at the hands of god, and shall we not receive evil ?"
And can goodlife please, for once, provide a straight answer ?
He wouldn't know one if it bit him in the asp.

Jesus showed that one of the most outstanding mark of those who follow his example in worshiping God is that they would have love among themselves. He said: “By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love among yourselves.— John 13:35

It not a matter of saying or pretending to be here, nice,no, continue to love your enemies”? (Matt. 5:44)

The Bible is quite clear how true worshipers of God can be distinguished from false worshipers, saying: The children of God and the children of the Devil are evident by this fact: 1 John 3:10 as you know, not everyone has followed the course of supporting worldly wars and slaughtering fellow believers.

You take every child that dies of starvation is a victim of inexcusable injustice, especially when you think of the money and time that are on producing weapons of war

You take the millions of needless deaths because of war.

You haven’t start to distinguish true and false
Not worth debating I'm afraid.
gl /You haven’t start to distinguish true and false / such irony...
