In consideration of:-

It is my opinion that the Ed should publish a list of all words which have been banned for further use in the columns of AB.

There are many words in the English language which are now being used for purposes for which they were not originally intended and I understand are no longer permitted for usage in AB. e.g. Fag gots( if spelled without a space.) Consequently, I would find it difficult to ask for a recipe for such in the 'Food and Drinks' section.

sathy-the poster is more likely to see your query on one of your own questions.....try that.
Oh...and no one gives out phone numbers-it's really not a safe thing to do.

sathy.....I am assuming that your posting is directed at me. Accordingly my response is as follows:-

By the same process of your questions being ignored, so can answers.

This thread concerns AB's Swear filter....so I say, as a Welshman,..cer i grafu.

Ron.
*******!!!!*****xxxxx.....SORRY !
Cer i grafu is quite mild. Go and scratch, I believe.
Question Author
Hi mike.......Can also mean.. Go to H.....but you know that I am not really offensive.!!

Ron.
I was taught that the full phrase was 'Cer i grafu efo dy nain' which is perhaps rather naughty.
Question Author
Mike... It is. I don't think my Grans would have approved.

Prynhawn da......Diolch yn fawr....../ ..Sorry. I'll start again in English...../ Good afternoon...Thanks very much to all who have contributed to this thread. However, if at any time you feel it appropriate to swear at me; please do so in Welsh to get it past AB's filter.:-)☺☺☺

Best wishes...Ron.
Perhaps we could have the red *edited by answerbank editor* box back on emended posts ?
It would save the puzzled 'What happened there....? I typed *******" threads which, in turn, are followed by " I meant **********" and the final "Oh, I see what's happened".

Hi JTH.... I can't remember the box to which you have made reference. Perhaps it was before my time with AB.... Although it does sound interesting.

No.

As I've said on many occasions, if you find a word which you think ought not be filter, email us and we'll review it.

"Getting around" swearing tends to result in the post being removed - if I catch it of course!

Spare Ed
Can the word filter be 'topic specific'?

i.e. Don't filter 'fa99ot' in the Food & Drink Topic.
faggot
I've un-filtered it. I was certain I did this a while ago though.

Spare
lol, my bad.

Didn't it used to be filtered?
Ah, gotcha.
Rather than being made aware of a list of inappropriate words so as to avoid using them - would it not be a more mature approach for everyone simply to express themselves in standard English - rather than referring to a list of 'banned' words?

Swearing is futile in print - so why bother?
HaHaHa.....

the Ed just called Naz a faggot..... snigger :)
