A blocking facility, to block abusive individuals, preventing them from replying to the posts of those who have blocked them.

I think that would be quite a good idea in a sense. If you block someone then you don't read their stuff and they can answer yours but you can't see it or something. I do think curiosity might get the better of some people though.

However as the site is fundamentally a Q&A one, I'm not sure it's appropriate.

A lovely idea in theory. However, it won't work in practice.

Let's imagine that I started being abusive to someone in Chatterbank and they clicked a button to block my posts. As soon as I realised that my posts weren't getting through, all I would have to do is to disconnect from the internet and then reconnect. (My ISP will then assign a fresh IP address to me, so that AB wouldn't recognise me when I came back to the site.). Then I simply re-register as a user. I could either choose a completely different username or, if I wanted to make it clear that the questioner couldn't get rid of me that easily , I could re-register as 'Buenchico2' or 'Bad Penny Chico'.

I don't understand why anyone would go to all that bother over someone they weren't keen on Buenchico but that's what I meant by curiosity. Some people just can't seem to help themselves.

You don't need a "button" to ignore nor a blocking facility. That's why humans (or some of us) were blessed with a brain.

As far as I'm aware, this woman dot is in her 60's I am 39 for God's sake. What is his problem, if he is drunk again, keep it to himself, I am sick of this evil moron always trying to bully me. Bloody racist.

You know what race I am and you have sent me abusive, racist messages before. Dot is white, I am not, as you well know, hence the bullying.

You know what you have sent me Legend and you know you have called me racist names. Stop denying it.

Just stop sending me racist e mails and photos of your knob, you should be ashamed of yourself. I know you want me, but you can't have me.
