Is it an accepted use of this site to ask Questions, when you already know the Answer? .......... if it is, then logically ...... many ABers could set Questions and run Quizzes using this site?

Eh?
but why did you not complain to callithrix earlier when he/she said they had the answers? There seems to be a regular run of these idiots who "pose" teasers etc and like sheep many abers give the answers. Some of the questions are so old they have whiskers on them! I think its a pity these idiots don't have somthing better to do with their time.

Oh I geddit now (amazing what happens when you actually make an effort to find out what the postee meant- lol)

I really don't see a problem with what that particularly person is doing. Does it matter? Is he/she stamping all over some (secret) Q&P etiquette?
I take it you are doing your petty sniping because of a couple of trivia type Q's posted by osprey and a few others.

Well, most of us are reasonably intelligent on AB and take exception to being labelled 'sheep'. Yes, we are aware the poster knows the answer, but it's nice to have a bit of fun occasionally. You do understand the meaning of the word 'fun', don't you? If you choose, you could do the sensible option - and ignore them instead of posting a totally pointless question.
pandabear ....do calm down please !
Whatever is the matter with you lately ....has the rain in Spain which falls mainly on the plain been getting to you?
It's just a website .And a jolly good one .Theres no need for all this .
Repeated Q's on Q&P get on my wick ..but I answer them and then it's done and dusted.I wasn't impressed with the roasting you gave wideboy the other day. These quiz and crossword questions are so ephemeral they are forgotten about after a few days .And it's only trivia ..a bit of fun ....ignore it if you don't want to answer much as I ignore Marlboro Q's.God knows how you would survive in Biddybank !!
Peace and love
Shaney
lol, don't sugar coat it will ya Cetti? You tell it like it is.....heh!
Question Author
shaneystar2 .... I think that you may not have understood my posting?

I have made no comment about repeated Q&A's which I know get on YOUR wick, because you have stated so.

I am asking whether this site is for posting Questions when you (the person posting the Question) already know the answer?

Has the weather changed in the UK to overcast, dull and dreary?

Question Author
jan1956 --- I agree with what you have written .... but, I do not see that it is my role or any ABers role to be intentionally contentious with another Aber?

There is an Editor ....

Question Author
Cetti ........... I am not doing any petty sniping at Osprey or any other name that you mention.

As jan1956 says ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, There seems to be a regular run of these idiots who poseteasers etc. ........ and like sheep many abers give the answers ...... I think it is a pity these idiots don't have something better to do with their timem

PB ..I never post Q's to which I already know the answer !
Calm down ,have a large sangria or whatever it is you have ..mines a large scotch.....and yes...it is dull and very unseasonable for the time of year here in good old Blighty.
These persons who post and already know the answer are perfectly entitled to do so.There may be others who don't know the answer and just want to have a bit of fun and a laugh.
Bit of advice....venture into some of the other categories ....you will be surprised at how nice people on here can be and I am sure that you have knowledge that can help others.
Life is not all about Q&P on AB.
Cheers m'dear ......raises large scotch !!
By the way ..I still haven't received my prize from the Generalist and I am forever grateful for your help.

Question Author
shaneystar2 - I have not suggested that you do?

Please read carefully what I have written.

I think that jan1956 has succinctly and well stated the point
I can't be doing with all this
I just come on here for a bit of light relief from my day to day life.I have met some nice people on here one of whom has become a wonderful friend.
Lets be frank ...people are starving in Africa, they are bombing the sh*t out of one another in the Middle East and we are carping about whether or not people should pose such and such a question. Just ignore what you don't agree with or state your case and leave it at that.
I would like to see changes to AB but it isn't a matter of life or death...and lets be grateful that we live in a democratic society where we can air our piddling views without fear of repercussion.
Question Author
goodnight shaneystar2 !
Hi pandabear

Being a bit slow on the uptake I thought you were suggesting that users be able to create their own Quizzes - great idea! But then after reading the posts I realised you were just being sarcastic in order to "prove a point". Heavy sigh.

As Shaneystar points out - the AB is supposed to be a "bit of fun" and we are all responsible for creating a fun and mutually respectful online community.

I don't understand why people would post Qs they already know answers to, not being a puzzler myself (just a bit puzzled), but we obviously do not want to keep people from participating. It is much more fun to post than to simply scan previously answered questions and take your answers from there.
I am sorry but I have to agree with Pandabear here. Surely this site should not be encouraging people to place questions that they already know the answer to on any topic. This site was set up for genuine questions not bogus questions. Most people will not want to waste their time answering questions that the enquirer already knows the answer to but how is anybody to know unless AB discourages the practice?
Question Author
Hi Editor -

Still not understanding - I did not write a sarcasm to prove a point.

Is it an accepted use of this site to post Questions that you ALREADY know the Answer to? {Seems aplain English to me?}

Your own comment - I do not understand why people would post Q's they already know answers to

So you understand the Question that I asked?

I did not understand either, SO I asked my question.

Your non-committal answer seems to be it's not what I would expect, but it's all fun.

I think goldenfield sets down a very good understanding of what the site WAS?

Oh for heavens sake, its a couple of fun questions that you either have the option to reply to or not. There's far worse threads posted for you to get your knickers in a twist over!
Thats not the point BOO. The point is that when people ask questions nearly everybody who reads the questions expect that the questioner wants to know the answer. What is the point of responding to a question where the questioner does NOT want to know the answer as they already know it? - and more importantly how does one tell the difference between genuine questions and those that are not? I and many others would like to help answer genuine questions but do not want to waste time with bogus questions. This site could easily discourage bogus questions by simply asking people to post questions for which they genuinely want an answer. It does seem they are not willing to do this.
I get your point goldenfield, but again, I really fail to see how it becomes an issue. If you want to reply, stick ya monicker in there, if you dont- well...don't, lol. It's not like it costs you money to post a reply so what does it matter if the questioner already knows the answer and you give them an answer to something they already know?- it's not a wasted reply.

I for one found the questions good, I didn't reply because i'm basically dim- heh, but I personally found them a refreshing change from crossword questions.
