How are the listed topics decided or set up? How can a new topic be introduced? How / where can I pose a question that doesn't fit into any of the existing topics?

3- errr close your eyes, point at the screen and which ever category your pinky is at, post in that one?

Can you give an example please, woolly17, of something that doesn't fall in any other category?
If you click on the word Topics it gives a breakdown of sub topics which may give more ideas of where to place a question

if you start with either R&S, Science or Arts and Literature for the unknown topic, then surely you are covered.

I have always thought the taxonomy of this site is a bit strange but, given that a lot of posters put things in odd places, I don't really see how it can be improved.

I agree, HK. For example I'm not sure why there are 8 further subtopics within Gaming and 4 within Food & Drink
