This is horrific, please sign the petition!  I wouldn't believe it if it wasn't on the RSPCA website.

Bl**dy swines.
Have looked at this and signed denise.

I think I'm going to cry!!  This is really upsetting.

Something smells extremely dodgy about this film and the original website www.30millionsdamis.fr

We are shown lots of stay animals and then a dog with a hook though it's upper lips. While it is a vile thing that somebody has done to this dog I cannot see how in any way somebody could then use this animal alive for shark fishing. Were the animal towed behind a boat it would pull the hook through its lip leaving it to swim about. If it were thrown off the boat to swim about and it were to be taken by a shark again the lips would be ripped, leaving an empty hook and no shark. Nope, this whole thing stinks worse than a week old shark mixed with wet dog, I sense a set up. I will poke about still further but so far I have seen absolutely no coroboration of this seemingly ludicrous story.

Check out today's Daily Mirror -it's in there as well. So unless they've been had as well....
The dogs wouldn't be able to swim. They bind the poor things legs together.I hardly think a reputable organisation like the RSPCA would report this on their website if it was unfounded.
when I was in Australia and went shark fishing we trawled with the dog in a harness, a hook through the lip would have been cruel, if the shark had swallow the bait the hook could have caught in its' throat.
davidicus, are you saying you think this is ok and that its only cruel to the shark?

Is there a difference between a dog and a worm/maggot/any kind of 'live' bait.

An animal suffering needlessly is an animal suffering needlessly, isn't it?

How horrible to do this to dogs. Cats make much better bait.

Just kidding! Don't throw me in the water!

I realise you are joking rampart, but cats are also used in this barbaric practice.

If anyone wants further horror concerning animals have a look at South Korea and see their foods. The list of atrocities against animals is endless, particularly Asia and the Far East. It truly is heartrending stuff.

This is very disturbing to me. There is absolutely NOTHING funny about this. I think anyone who takes part in this behavior or thinks its funny to do so, should be hooked through the cheek and dragged to thier bloody death in the exact same manner. Animal abuse in any form really ****** me off. One solution to stop it or at least slow it down some would be an eye for an eye. treat the abuser in the same manner as the abused. See how they like it.
Peanut - you are a ****
If you go to www.rspca.org.uk you can sign their petition to have the somewhat ancient legislation updated to the Animal Welfare Act which will give relevant authorities the powers that they need to act in cases of cruelty.  You can also lobby your MP about it too.
