Do You Have A Desktop Pc?

Just wondering how many of us use desktop pcs and whether they really have gone out of fashion.

I have two, both over ten years old.  I run W10 on one and dualboot W10 and Linux on the other.  Both are coming to the end of their lives and I will have to buy a replacement in the next few years.  I will probably go for a large monitor and a mini pc - no need for floppy disc drives or CD/DVD writers these days.

If you do have a PC, do you also have a tablet, laptop or other device?  Can you see yourself ditching the PC for good?  I use one program a lot, I rely on it, and it is only available for Windows PCs, so I could get by with a laptop but I like a large screen and an excellent keyboard.

I have a Dell laptop with touch screen and an iphone. That way I have both Microsoft and Apple. I store everything in the cloud.

Yes. Nothing else matches a proper desktop.

Also have a mobile and tablet for browsing etc. from the armchair or away from home.

I ditched the PC years ago.  I have an HP laptop with Windows, a Samsung tablet and Samsung phone.  I won't bother renewing the tablet - I just take the laptop away with me now.

I've 2 PCs & am on the newer of them (still quite old), with a decent monitor & the best keyboard I've ever used.  I have a laptop as well, but that's on its last legs, really.  The only way anything will get replaced is with a lottery win.

I've got an iPad and Android phone, too.  My desktop has a touchscreen but I don't use that much.  Not as much as I thought it would when I bought it, but it is awkward being further from my face than a tablet and my arm aches after a while (poor me).  I have everything backed up to the cloud and a large hard drive which is connected to the network but it is also on my main PC.

I do find I am left alone 'to get on with it' when I'm using a desktop wheras if I'm on my iPad I must be 'playing' and can be diverted to other things.

What keyboard do you, LiK?  I have  a Cherry mechanical which I won't give up

Yes, I have an iMac bought in 2014 which I love. Also an ipad (handy for when in bed) and some daft little tablet thing I rarely use.
I have a smart phone too, but I only use for calls, hate trying to use the internet on it.

I have one of the small 6 x 6 x 3 desk tops for work with proper keyboard and 2 big screens. A lap top for in front of the roger.

I have a desktop, a laptop, a kindle and my phone!!

You advised me about your mini PC a while back, TTT, which helped convince me that it is worth considering.  Is it attached to the back of a monitor?

I always liked the look of an iMac, ferlew, but never fancied owning one, although I like my iPad well enough - it nearly does everything my Samsung tablet does 😉

I no longer use a desktop PC, preferring to use my Lenovo X250 laptop (running Windows 11) instead. I paid just £120 for it, about 18 months ago.

I've also got an excellent Android tablet, which cost me just £50 brand new (including carriage & import VAT) when I ordered it directly from China.  I use it almost exclusively for logging radio contacts when I'm operating away from home.  (I tether it to the wifi from my Samsung Galaxy A12 phone).

Is that a Kindle ereader, Sharon or a (kindle) Fire tablet?  I have a Kobo and and a Kindle ereader and a much loved ancient Sony eReader that is a thing of great beauty - and not a bit of plastic in sight.

I love my PC to pieces and I will never be without one

I know your penchant for a bargain gadget, Buen, and glad it works for you.  (I nearly did a Delboy and typed penchance).

Sorry Barry, I missed your query - it's a Logitech K800.

That reminds me of something I heard years ago.  There was a big sign outside PC World stating '10% off everything!  PCs excluded).

A man went in and demanded why he couldn't have 10% off just because he is a policeman.
