The bushy tails would take some chewing.
Question Author
The whole thing takes some chewing, Sandy. It looks extremely tough.
they'll probably use the tail to wipe their beaks and floss their teeth
Question Author
I'll keep watching and see if they do, Jon.
I saw the title and assumed you meant your family and you. Probably nice done in a slow cooker.
Question Author
With a bit of hedgehog added, it would be lovely!

The camera's not working at the moment.
The camera is hardly ever working lately. They are saying it's because the foliage is getting in the way of the signal.
Chick must be ready to go soon, she's been leaping on and off the branch to the left and standing on the edge of the nest and flapping about. I hope the camera is working when she eventually fledges.
Question Author
It's on at the moment, LB. Mum's just taken away the skin and the tail of the squirrel. No beak flossing!

I've just read on the RSPB site that there are only 280-430 pairs of Goshawks breeding in the UK so I feel really privileged to be able to watch this. I'd like to see her fledge. That would be fantastic.
Question Author
She's lying down now, converting squirrel into Goshawk.
What happened to the other two chicks, Tilly?
Oh, I got confused and thought this was in food and drink. I quite like squirrel rilletes.
Question Author
The first one died overnight and was taken away by the parent. That was the tiny one. The second one died during the day and was fed to the remaining chick.
The second chick was ill. It had a problem with feeding. Its beak didn't close properly. It was a sorry sight to see. It was thought to be infected with Trichomonosis.
Question Author
I'm partial to blackbird burgers, Eccles, with nightingale relish. :-)
Err, I'm not taking the Micky!
Question Author
I am. ;-)
Does it spend the night on its own?
Question Author
I think so, LB. Anyway, off now to watch Peter Kaye. Goodnight.
Poor thing.
Enjoy Tilly, I like him.
The camera seems to have been down all day today or at least every time I've checked it has. I so want the camera to capture the moment our chick fledges. Grrh.
Swear word swear word swear word. I missed it, she fledged this morning. Did you see it Tilly?
