Baths, my FIL used to have one of those a few years ago it didn't last long. There not very sturdy.
I use a folding stick. Find it very good. Makes me feel secure.
God didn't make folding trees equipped with folding branches, so I'd say no good. I might be needing one soon:)

That's kind, it has a comfy handle grip too, sure Caran will agree.
Not the prettiest of things but the real beauty is that they are adjustable and and fold down easily to stash away.
Should last for yonks if treated right.

Hi Chip. It's the "easy to fold" which bothers me,.....what if it decides to fold itself when in use?

x x
It doesn't. Very secure. If you want to fold it, wrap an elastic band round it In your bag.
My senior mother used one for several years, before graduating to a zimmer then a wheelchair.
I remember giving it at test and I couldn't see how it could accidentally fold up.
I'm talking about the type with the internal cord.
Ponytail bands are better for securing when folded or you can get a slip case for it in your bag/pocket.
It won't fold up in use, each part slides into the next.
Question Author
Well I've just bought one :)

I don't understand. if you NEED a walking stick what is the purpose of buying a fold-up one? I can understand buying a small fold-up umbrella that you can carry in your purse or pocket in case it rains. But, if you NEED a walking stick don't you NEED it all the time whilst out and about??
They're great. I use one at airport checkpoints, those interminable queues require standing for too long. Never had a problem and they fold up neatly when on the plane.
Amazon have them. I'm sure some charity shops may also have them.
Baths....if you have a Tesco near you, it might have a Timpsons shoe repair concession within it, and they sell these folding sticks, so go and try a few out. They are also available in a good ironmongers, as well as loads of other places.

I used one a few years ago, when on holiday in Sorrento, and it got me around Pompeii very well !
I have two and I got them from here, absolutely brilliant
