Can anyone tell me how to stop my neighbour's cat from fouling on my lovely new flower beds.I have tried "Cat repellent" and chilli powder. Short of using a twelve-bore I am at a loss as to know how to stop it.

I seem to remember orange peel being a deterrent. Although not as much as an air rifle!
A water pistol is good but you have to catch 'em at it - it does work, I've done it with alien cats. If not, my brother in law installed one of those sonic bleeper things which is activated by movement, that seemed to work too. Twigs across the newly turned soil might put them off, or holly leaves, or broken up egg shells which make the seat uncomfortable. Fresh soil is such an invitation to go toilet!
I remember several years ago that people used to fill large plastic drinks bottles (1 litre or more) with tap water and lie them sideways in the flower beds. I used to visit customers' houses and I was puzzled for a while by how many had plastic bottles of water lying in their gardens. When I eventually asked someone they told me they kept the local cats away. When I asked how they said that when a cat approaches the bottle to examine it,it suddenly sees a huge reflection of itself (huge eyes etc) magnified by the water and it scarpers - apparently staying clear of that garden afterwards! Whether the bottles ever worked I don't know but all those people seemed to think they did. I haven't seen them for a while though. It might be worth a try.

It has been suggested before on here to put some mothballs down and found it was a good deterrent.
