This is a real question...but kinda rude.

Hi. I'm a 20 year old guy and for about the last 8 weeks my bum has been really really itchy. Not my cheeks...around my actual hole. And now the same area just feels painful and I can't see it but it feels red (if that makes sense)...like its burning. Actually...it feels kinda like sunburn. Does anyone know what this is...should I put something on it coz I don't really wanna go the docs coz I dont really want him looking there :s

sounds like you either have a thrush infection which can be made worse by itching... sometimes it can be caused by a heavy night on the beer or curry, major ring sting next day, bit of tearing.. you get my drift. Anyway, I'd try using something like canestan - you can get it from the chemist for 7 days. It'll calm the itching at any rate (incidently incase you are wondering how I know, I'm a doctor with a hectic social life!)

Oh god...and I just had a curry about an hour ago...thanks doc :)
sounds to me like"bot worms" you need to go to your doctor.a very common ailment
lol, sorry! not always the case but its quite common, especially in younger people with the combination of curry and beer! depends on how you normally handle curry! didn't mean to scare anyone..
Might be the onset of piles, in which case Preparation H (a cream available from chemists') is good.
thepheebster - I agree with tartanwiz, either Preparation H, or Germoloids Ointment for piles, or Lanacane Anaesthetic Cooling Cream, which soothes itching & irritation & is good for itchy bottoms. I would try the latter first as you may not have piles or worms. Failing that I would visit your GP or Nurse at the surgery. Good luck!
Oh ouch!  As well as the above try to avoid highly scented shower gel, soap etc (try baby or Simple soap). Make sure you dry really thoroughly & if it's at all possible  just wear cotton boxers around the house, nothing like a bit of air to speed up the healing - not recommended if you live with your gran! (And please don't forget & go down the High Street!)
Could even be caused by white bread. Eating that can given you an itchy bum. Go to the doctors. There really is nothing to worth about. He/She has seen it ALL before.

get over yourself and go to the blinking doctor! It's what they're there for and believe me, they've seen it thousands of times before..
Pheebster...sounds exactly like piles to me.  Go and see your doc. And gets some prep H or Anusol.
