The fox may have been defending itself or it's young,it wouldn't ordinarily attack a cat.
I did some night filming of my garden and was surprised to see my cat sharing my dinner leftovers with a fox

I think that thay have respect for each other.
I have lost a cat to a fox who came back for the other one. They will certainly attack cats, usually vulnerable ones (mine had poor site) and especially if they have young and the weather is really bad. I fear my little cat was a foxcub meal!!
The other cat lived to tell the tale and put up a fight until we came to the rescue. However, he was really ill and nearly died from shock.
'sight'!!!
That is so sweet Dustypuss.
cats have gone missing in our neighbourhood, even more so since we have had wheelie bins and they cant get food from the black waste bags anymore. We keep our cat locked in at nights, and yes I have seen a fox chasing a cat on the next street when I came home quite late, there was nothing I could do to help the cat and the screams were awful. since the urban fox appeared in our streets cats will go mssing if they are desperate enough and have young to feed.
