i remember reading once that the most dangerous animal in the jungle is not the lion tiger leopard etc but the hippo apparently it has a fierce temper and its weight and jaws etc make it the most lethal animal in the jungle, is this true?

Hippos are responsible for more deaths than any other non-human animal in Africa. (That is directly responsible; otherwise it might be the mosquito). Hippos are not often to be found in jungles, however.
Hippos are actually very vicious and not the cute animals I thought they were (Hungry Hippo was my favourite game!). But they don't live in jungles.
I would like to disagree with these two and say that Hippos do live in the jungle and the jungle waters, they are indeed very fierce but i think that the deadly spiders and venemous snakes are a greater worry!!!

they do live in jungles where else do you think a semi detached in rochdale?
No. They don't. Normal hippopotamuses live in grassland near fairly still water, and pygmy hippopotamuses live in forests and are rather more solitary. But then again, lions don't live in jungles either. try http://www.kidcyber.com.au/topics/hippo.htm
I believe that you are right in the sense that hippos are the deadliest of all the similarly large animals (such as elephant, lion, rhino etc). The deadliest animal of all is the mosquito, which has killed more people than all other causes of death put together.
