My poor old boy has had the runs since yesterday morning REALLY bad.he has not had anything differant to eat but he is really miserable i didint feed him yesterday apart from a slice of toast with 2 scrampled eggs ( i thought it would bind him up but its not worked. He is really straining now and the poo is bright orange im worried this might be a sign of something wrong with his liver? i am going to take him to vets on Monday but has anyone got an idea what i could give him till then to make him more comfortable?.
I took him to vets a couple of months ago and he had a blood test and the vet thought maybe he had cushions.disease but said he needed 4 more blood tests which cost 85 each and as there was no cure she didint think it was worth it as he is nearly 14 but she couldent give me any pain releif for .him as it might affect his liver so dont really know what to do shall i give him his dinner as he seems .hungry? he is drinking water normally. Thanks in advance

I wouldnt feed him for 24 hours, or at least until tomorrow morning, but make sure he is drinking. If you can get to the chemist before they close, try and get some Acidopohulus tablets, they are safe for dogs and puppies, and you could give him at least one, if not two every four hours or so. You could give him one of these tablets every day in the future to avoid further problems. If you have some Lectade, mix some in his drinking water, or add some glucose.

When you start him on food again, give him little bits at a time, boiled chicken is good, or if you can get some pudding rice and mix with arrowroot that usually helps.

It could be gastric, and his tummy is inflamed, but if you are still worried tomorrow and he is being sick, I would call the emergency vet.
Oh, my heart goes out to you. I sincerely hope your wee dog is feeling a touch better. Fingers crossed for him. With best wishes - alfie n pupxxxx Let us know how you get on and keep in touch. xx
