Hi both.

Parents can do something about their young teenagers if they really want to. Maybe they can't physically stop them from going out, but if they begin by refusing to give them money, do their washing, etc., until they make it clear that respect demands respect, then it makes for a good start. Having said that, teenagers need trust. If you know where they are, know who their friends are and feel comfortable with that, the odd later night shouldn't hurt.
I suspect the majority of parents do not have control enough to make their teenagers come home by 9pm.

Which is why the cops are hoping their curfew may carry a bit of weight and be acted on.

I suppose it depends on the punishment they have in mind for ignoring their curfew.

Round here they round up kids loitering on street corners, take them to what looks like a bit conservatory and buy them pizza!
A fanny fart would that be.

Anyway I have been logged off for a while now has anything interesting happened while I have been gone.

I will have to have a look on previous posts now as I am a nosy neighbour

True. Was discussed in news a few weeks ago. And no I'm not doing a search and link!

The cops claim it gets them off the street. Was on my local news. It's around the Asda we discussed leg...lol!

What they didn't say was what the kids did after they'd eaten the pizza. Which I think probably takes about 3 mins!
sorry knob im only joking i wont say one more word !

am im really negative all the time ?
I think children need ground rules from being young, even if it's only to all sit round the table for a meal, and to hang their coats up when they come in. If you allow them to do as they please, then the older they get, the worse it is to control them. Teenagers are surging with hormones though, and I think a bit of leniency's better than making unreasonable demands on them, but with sense and guidance you can even sort the wheat from the chaff when it comes to their friends.
A lot of the trouble stems from young people not having much to do these days. They can't go there, they can't do this. You can't even play in farmers haystacks any more. More youth clubs, social centres, sports grounds, activity groups etc., and this'd keep a lot of them off the streets.
Unfortunately we cannot always have complete control over what our kids do when they are not with us........and the influence of mates is always stronger than parents. No matter how well brought up...especially if the child likes to test the limits imposed.....I know..been there, done that.
