Just watched this evenings BGT show, not my usual taste to be honest, but little else on. I watched it all with some amateurish magicians and some cheesy kids dancing - but buried in all this was a lad called Charlie with a truly fantastic voice and a lad who was a seriously talented dancer.
When the votes came in the dancer won - seems reasonable, but what they do then is pick the next two top acts and the judges vote one of those through to join the winner in the final.
The lad Charlie was one and two guys who are into martial arts who had performed a pretty good dance / movement routine were next. They weren't bad but the boy was miles ahead in the talent stakes and potential for progressing to the final.
Thejudges voted the singing lad off? I don't get it, am I missing something or is the show meant to be controversial?
Any views?
PS . a dancing dog got through apparently the other evening!

The dancing dog was brilliant ! I don't see why the judges have to decide on the acts. Surely, that's why the public vote ! The two acts with the highest votes should go through instead of the judges deciding because most of the time the judges only vote to annoy each other which isn't fair.
Was this the young lad singing opera? Did he mention that he gets bullied at school? Does he REALLY get bullied or is it just a few snide remarks from other kids about his choice of hobby? I feel he uses that as a sympathy lever. Last night he said he was 'doing it for his mum and not him' I raised a cynical eyebrow I'm afraid. BTW I'm not de-crying his talent - the boy has a voice on him.
Precisely Jillius. The people spend money voting - and then ITV (again in their wisdom!) ignore the viewers and let the judges decide. Does con come to mind - AGAIN!!!
No, that was Andrew Johnston who won last night. He is very good. Tonight's little lad in mention was Charlie Green. He is very good but sang a song tonight that his dad's mate wrote for him and the judges weren't keen. His dad used to be a black and white minstrel.
I agree sir.prize !!
Hi Paul, Charlie is from my home town of Droitwich. I've heard Charlie sing in the local theatre and he has a superb voice and real stage presence. We were all voting for him and were gutted when Piers Morgan was stupid enough to not vote him through.
Admittedly, Charlie's choice of song was not the best, but at least Simon recognised his true potential.
Anyway, I'm sure this won't be the last we hear of Charlie, he has a great future ahead of him and I for one, wish him all the luck in the world.
Did the two Indian guys get through? The one who did the Michael Jackson act with his hilarious Sikh partner?
yes velvetee they did. They are my favourite so far.
Mine too.
O booldawg -I am so glad that someone else didnt fall for the 'bullying' angle.I daresay he was teased at school -but then who isnt -they made plenty mileage out it on GMTV -how to profile yourself if youve been bullied -I would have kept my child away from the press -but no- mother had to have her 15 mins of fame as well.

Think they said they didnt want it to be a singing finale so they are having to go for variety -however the truly talented have had a brilliant showcase and shouldnt moan too much -Paul Potts -who????

I voted for that young lad tonight-who won it -raw talent and a steely determination -I liked him !!!

Hated the swingers with a passion -made me sick lol !!

Don't knock the 'dancing dog' Paul. Did you actually see the act. It wasn't just any dancing dog and the girl who trained him must be a genius (not forgetting Gin the dog herself).

Signature (the act with the two Asian guys) is my favourite by miles this year.

Charlie - the kid with the really good voice is bound to get a lot of publicity and/or fame off the back of this - singing is a very 'mainstream' talent - more so than martial arts routines so I'm pleased that Strike got through - they're very *ahem* talented ;-)
I adored the dog routine!!

that being said though I really really really want George Samson to win, his street dancing was truly gobsmacking.

I didn't like Charlie (sorry), yes he's a good voice, but to me it just wasn't special enough and the song was awful.

I have to say I have become hooked on the show. I have since seen the dog on tape.......... it has got through to the final, all I will say now I've seen it is that I cannot believe it!

Sasha, you are correct on two points I think and that is that Charlie will do very well anyway. Interestingly my two gay friends also think that Strike are fantastic, for the same reason as you Sash I suspect. (lol)

By the way what about that 12 yeear old girl last night? What a voice. There is serious talent out there, you just have to search for it through the dross.
I like Gin the Dog, Signature and George Samson, in that order. The child singers get to be a bit boring, although the 12 year old has an incredibly mature voice. All the kids dancing groups are much of a muchness.

I think the Queen would appreciate the dog more than anything else - she's a doggy lover!!
I don't think it's going to be in front of the Queen this year loftylottie, I think it's Prince Charles.
Oh well, Jillius, I think he might appreciate Signature then.
Glad you got to see Gin the dog, Paul.
I think he'll still like Kate and Gin. I'm sure he's a dog lover too.
Load of old rubbish the lot of it.

Would you pay money to go and watch any of them?
