One of our cats had just one kitten. She was pregnant when we took her in as a stray. We were surprised there was only one, but it can happen. We watched over her to make sure there were no more for most of the day, just in case.

Thank you that puts my mind at rest
I had a cat who only had one kitten, a very good excuse to keep it!

I also had a cat that only had one kitten, she was a stray we took in and was the daftest cat i've ever known. At first we thought she had may have eaten any other kittens she had given birth to but there was no evidence of that whatsoever.
