Stray Cat?

Recently I have noticed a black cat hanging around my garden on a regular basis. My cat doesn't seem to fight with him as he does with every other cat and he has tried to come in to the house when I've been stood right by the door, he isn't fazed when i clap to try and shoe him away and just carries on trying to get it. The other day I noticed him sitting on top of the fence and realised he had no tail and only 3 legs (I'm really not joking). He had no collar and looked a little scruffy. I felt so bad for him I just wanted to bring him in the house and give him some fuss and feed him (which I didn't). Should I do something? I don't actually know if he is a stray but I am worrying about this poor little cat now.

keep eye on it - especially if it keeps coming around.

leave some food out & see what happens

if you think it is neglected or a stray post an ad locally to see if anyone misses it.

if no-one claims it then either

1. take it in if you want it - (take to vet for check up)

or 2. take to local cat shelter or pound or whatever is nearby

this all seems rather obvious but i'm only telling you what i would do

well I would take him in, even though I would get aggro from my husband. And then put posters up and ask around to see if anyone owns him.
Take him to the vet and ask them to check for a micro chip. If he hasn't got one but continues to hang around, take him in. Please check to see if he's chippped first though - it shouldn't cost you anything.
It sounds like he is just ready to move in, your cat seems to have accepted him. It sounds like he has been in the wars at some stage though.

Best wishes with your new family addition.
Aw, What a shame.
I would be tempted to take the cat in and feed it until you can have it microchipped.
If for some reason you are unable to keep it, take it to the Cat protection League.
Fingers crossed that it has either found a new home or you find the owners. Good Luck.
