You have taken the first step by taking your cat to the vet which is right. Now you need to treat your home.
Where ever your cat goes is laden with flea eggs...bedding, upholstry and carpets.
You need to spray your house and get everyone, including the animals out for a few hours.
Spray the baseboards and floors. Put some Vapona strips under your beds and couches; they are thick, yellow and you can cut them up.
Remember that everytime your cat goes outside they are likely to pick up fleas, so you must be vigilant about keeping up their Frontline protection.

cat doesnt go outside. not sure i have anywhere to take her for a coupla hours, but i'll look into it. thanks.
Did your vet use Frontline spray or spot on treatment as the
spray should kill all the fleas on the animal, whereas the spot on tends to stop eggs hatching but not necessarily kill the adults. Get some spray and also household spray, and do the lot in one go.
I agree with chacha2chins!

I had the same problem some years ago and despite repeatedly treating the cat the problem didn't go away until I did the house.

All the carpets in the rooms the cat uses - it was easier for me as I never allowed my cat upstairs to the bedrooms - all upholstery, bedding, sofas, chairs etc that the cat may sleep on.

It was quite expensive and a bit of a pain but one treatment did it!

Good luck.
Can you put the cat in another room for a few hours while you FLEABOMB room by room. they are very effective, just put little cans in middle of room and it fumigates room. You have to watch out for settling dust and definitely make sure no animals are present while treating room, but its very effective at getting everywhere.
The best flea control is called Advantage - think the name has changed to Advocate now. It is from the vet and is the spot on the back of the neck treatment. It stops the fleas laying eggs so you kill the whole cycle. I once had a rescue cat that was riddled with fleas and I knew it would be a battle so I rang the local Council and they sent someone out to spray the house free of charge. They were gone immediately.
give your cat garlic. fleas cant stand the taste. buy garlic pearls and prick with a pin. Squeeze quickly into cats mouth.
Please be very careful when de-fleaing your car and don't be tempted to use overkill.

I used Frontline + flea collar + flea bomb and my cat died - I can't prove it was an anti-flea overdose, but I think it was.

If you've used frontline, please don't use a collar too - and keep the cat out the way while you flea bomb.

Lots of luck - they're pesky little sods!
I had the same problem a few months ago...I got the prescription Frontline...it is stronger and more effective than the regular. I also got a household spray from the vet called R.I.P. (by Gentrix)...it still took several weeks before I stopped seeing 'lively' fleas. 2 months down the line and I had to have my cat de-matted(she is long-haired and hates being groomed) and they still found some of the little b!!!!!rs in her fur. You just have to be very persistant....oh yes......you MUST hoover,hoover,hoover-2 or 3 times a day if ness.
Sorry to hear that Sasha13, maybe your cat had an allergic reaction? They do reccomend that you dont mix these types of products but when you have an infestation, it never feels like your doing enough. I know when we had them it was always 'spray a little more' 'get another collar' 'try this product too'. Best of luck Feistycurves.
I forgot to mention that you should put a piece of Vapona strip in your vacuum bag. When you vacuum the eggs can survive in the vacuum.
Flea eggs can hibernate not only in your carpets/upholstry but also your vacuum bag for several months until they are stimulated by vibrations/body heat. A Vapona strip in the vacuum bag can take care of the little suckers you pull up from the rug!
