I have a flying ant problem which occurs every year around the same time. I usually pay for a pest control guy to come in and spray but this year they didnt appear.....or so they wanted me to believe!!!!!

They come from the back of the gas fire, but this year they have also been in my bedroom (literally hundreds, I was throwing my guts up...sorry to be so graphic, lol!). I have been using nippon in the hope that they will take it back to the nest & DIE!!!!! But alas no they havent & this has been ongoing for weeks now. Please please can anyone suggest anything I can buy & put down myself rather than calling pest control who charge 90?

your local authority pest control department will sort it out for a fee, ring them monday morning, they are cheaper than a private firm, especially if u are on benefit or similar

Thanks for the reply. I have called local council before & they refuse because the problem comes from behind a gas fire. I'll give them another bell on Monday just in case.
We had a similar problem the nest was in a cavity wall under a window. We drilled into the cavity and used ant killer. Could you get gas fire removed and then treat all the area behind? Sounds like you have nest in cavity wall.

Thanks Annlinda

Im not sure but its worth looking into.

Well I used to charge 45.00 for ant treatment, What you could try is mix some ant powder with some sugar and water and spoon it under the gas fire. You could take out the gas fire and cement in any holes but be aware they just may emerge elsewhere.

The pest control Company will usually be the best option, phone around for a cheaper one, just make sure they guarantee their work!!
