Is it true that cats eat grass because they want to make themselves sick? Only most mornings my cat will go out into the garden eat some grass then come straight back indoors, he usually stays in for the rest of the day, he is never sick though, Thanks in advance for any answers.

my cat liked grass, he had a little pot growing on the windowsill to nibble on.

Cats would eat anything if it could fit n their mouths. Cats are stupid there I said it!
Cats eat grass to aid digestion. Sometimes they are sick, sometimes it passes right through them and sometimes it gets stuck in the throat and when they sneeze it comes back down the nasal passage, as happened in our boarding cattery once (entailing urgent out of hours expensive trip to the vet).
A kitten looks endearingly at a human, who falls for its charms. The human takes it home, provides a comfy warm bed, feeds it on demand, lets it out of the house on demand and lets it back in on demand. The cat arranges things so that all it has to do all day is relax, eat and sleep. And the cat is the stupid one?
Don't think so, jezzatt

We collect sayings about cats, and our favourite is -
Two thousand years ago cats were worshipped as gods.
They haven't forgotten this.
do you have any others.
How about:
"Of all God's creatures, there is only one that cannot be made slave of the leash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve the man, but it would deteriorate the cat." - Mark Twain
or:
"I have studied many philosophers and many cats. The wisdom of cats is infinitely superior." - Hippolyte Taine
or:
"Cats are kindly masters, just so long as you remember your place."- Paul Gray

I could go on!
Seem to have highjacked your question SEXY67.
How about -
1. Dogs come when you call, cats take a message and get back to you sometime.
2. Dogs see humans as their masters, cats see them as slaves.
3. Cats don't like change without their consent.
4. If cats could talk, they wouldn't.
5. A cat is a puzzle for which there is no solution.
6. Better to feed one cat than many mice.
7. Kittens are domestic only so far as it suits their own needs.
8. Time spent with a cat is never wasted.

No problem willowman, i am enjoying all the different cat quotes, which all seem to be very true.
"It was soon noticed that when ever there was work to be done the cat was never to be found" - George Orwell Animal Farm.

Isn't it wonderful how cats can win friends and influence people without ever reading a book.

Cats, like men, are flatterers.

Cats are rather delicate creatures and they have many different ailments, but I never heard of one who suffered from insomnia

Cats seem to go on the principle that it never does any harm to ask for what you want.

As you can probably tell, we love cats, and running a boarding cattery is the best job in the world - not a quote but my words.
My cat not only likes grass but has me very well trained. I have just spent the first part of the morning, in pyjamas and slippers, clearing a pathway around the garden through the snow. All so Martha can get to her favourite patch of grass!! She just wouldn't stop howling so what else can you do!?!
And jezzatt says cats are stupid!!!
