Hi,
i have taken on a 18mnth old female cat a week ago as the owner no longer wanted her, the problem being now is that she dosent like cat food, we have tried the cheapest to the most expensive and she walks away, she does eat dry biscuits and tuna in brine, ham, and cat treats, but thats about it, does anyone know why this might be and what i can do about it. Thankyou.

Try mixing the cat food with a bit of tuna or hame or rice and see if she will take it, then each meal time but less of the 'real' food and more cat food and hopefully she should eat! It worked for my dog when he got fussy!!

Good luck
sorry that should have said ham not hame!!! lol
If she eats dry biscuits then why not feed her a dry complete food - she doesn't need to have the meat stuff. My cat has the GoCat complete and he loves it. He won't eat most tinned stuff either. I give him some tuna every few days as well as a bit of a treat!
there is a good selection of dried complete food. It is easier to use as it doesn't pong quite so much and can be left out all day without worrying about beasties being attracted to it - the dreaded fly!
Well she's not very hungry then. A hungry cat will eat almost anything.

She's probably just a bit upset at being moved. She'll settle down. When my dad got a rescue cat, it took her about a month to settle down in her new home.

PS I wouldn't get into the habit of feeding her tuna and cat treats - very expensive. Tuna is an endangered species, as well.
Tuna in brine, ham - quite salty. Like the others say, nothing wrong with a 'dry' diet, in fact, probably better for her teeth (and breath!) and more convenient. Now and again, when we've had rice for dinner, Cat gets a bit - which he considers quite a treat.

Dry it is then, thanks for all your sugestions, also one more thing she seems to have dandruff whats the best cure for that? thanks
My old cat was a v ery fussy eater and I bought the smart price tuna from ASDA or Tesco and she lived on that. She was 20 when she died, so it didn't do her any harm.
If you do choose to feed her on dried food make sure she drinks plenty of water, a friend of mine had a cat that was fed on dried food but didn't drink ( some cats dont ) she suffered from kidney failure at only 5 years old and died, the vet said it was caused by dry feeding and no fluids. Gelda
The dandruf is most probably diet related. Gelda

yes i guessed the diet was the main cause of the skin complaint, but what can i do to ammend that , i cant put anything in her dinner as she wont eat much and shes too frightened to be picked up and something put in her mouth, shes a very difficult cat but i dont want to give her away again like the previous owners im prepared to do what i can to help her.
