Ooohh you relly dont want to know what one of them is :-)
A bidring stems from the olde English byde meaning to adhere to and the norse rynge meaning circle, typically of councils/elders etc. One who follows the bidring or indeed byderynge is one that follows the advice of their elders. This has nothing to do with Emphysema or Polycistic ovaries of course. I am guessing that the person in your office has been to the pub at lunch.

come on its p*****g me off.
Question Author
yes he has been to the pub for his lunch. thanks
Te He, I have no idea really. What context was it used in?
Mmmm why has this been moved to Animal and Nature, des ED know something we dont :-)
Yes she is.

Bidring is birdwatching in it's american form.
I thought you were humorous up to that point, Octavius. By the way, aren't you just one of the Gaius? (Soory)
If that dastardly demon A Bed hadn't moved this Q to the correct category I would have got away with my work of fiction above.

And as you ask, Gaius stems from the roman 'I am glad' so I guess therefore that I am.

"birding" is a form of birdwatching, concentrating on lists of species seen

But stylinsam asked about "A biDRing."

If this wasn't a typo maybe its something to do with auctions. "A ring" lets one member bid, then, having got it cheap holds a private auction and shares the profit. Illegal in UK I think

drat, foiled again.
Question Author

it was definetly bidring not birdring

the sentance was something like this

"i saw the bidring over the other side" something like that anyway.

Was the context an auction then.

If the speaker was selling something he would have been annoyed at this ploy to keep the price down

its a group of people all bidding for the same item in order to inflate the final price
ok 'bidding ring'. More commonly known as 'shill bidding'.
