Is this a Wood Pigeon egg? A week or so ago I found a similar egg, with embryo still inside, in the garden. Now this. What's attacking the eggs in the nest?

I don't suppose it's just the heat overcooking them?
Have found two similar in our garden recently - plenty pigeons in the trees around here. Living near the sea and have several seagulls hovering around at times, wonder if seagulls would attack the nests?
Wood pigeon eggs are white, that looks blue to me although if that's a pound coin the egg is quite big.
^^ You're right Prudie, eggs I found were white!

The shell's more white than blue. And that is a pound coin placed in the picture to give an idea of the size of the egg.
If it is white then yes could be a woodpigeon, they are notorious for building flimsy unsafe nests in precarious places so could be that and they are falling out or a magpie attacking the eggs. Also cuckoo could have booted them out before laying it's own and then leaving the country!
Foxes eat birds' eggs but that one looks as if it's been pecked so another bird I think.
I agree with Prudie. Definitely magpie.
Wood pigeons nest in my fir tree every year and magpies always attacking them and their nest.
Jays will also eat eggs and fledglings
I would always suspect magpies, they are notorious egg and fledgling destroyers.
Apologies for the pedantry, it’s:
