We didn't quite know what to do as our Bichon Maltese puppy took a liking to weeing on the carpet. We took it up but it was getting cold, ( marble floors) . So I had an idea. I put a blanket on the sofa where she plays/sleeps sometimes / snuggles. After a couple of weeks we lay the carpet down and covered it with the blanket. She never peed on it during the following two weeks and today we have taken it up and so far so good with just the carpet !!! So pleased with her progress :)

Glad it worked for you :)
What about the smelly pee carpet ?
Question Author
We had the carpet cleaned ofcourse. No longer smelly.
That was a good idea- glad it seems to have worked!

She's doing so well, pees and poos where she should, sits and stays when told to, gives her little paw on demand. She's so sweet we are besotted. Won't come to me on demand though yet. Have to work on that a bit. She's been sleeping quite happily in her crate ( big one, before anyone says anything ) next to me, my next challenge is to get her to sleep on her cushion next to me, without wandering. She sleeps from about 10.00-until 8.00 without waking or wanting the toilet, but then gives me one bark to tell me she's bursting. I don't want her to not make it to her designated place.
No, good habits definitely help, she can only hold on so long. How old is she?
For recall.... I used lots of treats, even just when they responded to their name, at home. That is (possibly lol the only) thing they are all 100% reliable with, no matter what else they are doing.

She's 4 months old Pixie. Asleep on my foot as I write this.
She'll get there:-)
Question Author
I have no doubt she will Pixie. She is such a clever girl, the cleverest Bichon around :).
Yes... :-). There's a saying.... everyone believes their dog is the best. And they are all right :-).
