I was playing Rugby on Saturday when the referee, during a stoppage noticed a doggy land mine on the pitch and demanded it's removeal before we could continue. Luckily it was an away game so the opposition physio had to come on and clear it up, yuck. Anyway there where plenty of dog poo bins about but still dog owners let them do it anywhere and just leave it. Why do some dog owners think it's alright to let there dogs crap indescriminately? now I know a lot of people clear it up, I just wonderered if the dog owning fraternity could put their own house in order here? I mean if you are walking your dog and you see someone else not clearing up their mess do you challenge them? Anyone know of any prosecutions? I'm not a dog owner by the way.

I know what you mean. My dog used to roll in it when she was younger. The fact that I always pick up after them and others don't makes me really angry. A quick walk used to end up with a bath and dry lasting about 11/2 hrs. I would love to tell someone if I saw them leave the dog mess on the ground but call me a wimp if you like, but in this day and age you have to be very carefull what you say to people. I have in the past picked it up myself if I have a spare bag with me. If you own a dog you have to take responsibility for everything that comes with them. This included picking up the poop.
l always pick up after my dog and expect others to do the same. I have two large parks near me and a lovely beach and their are plenty of bins provided by the council for dogs doings.
I have no qualms whatsoever in telling someone to pick up their dogs mess.I had a chap once whom I saw letting his dog go at the bottom of our drive just as I was coming along with mine ..so I legged it after him and offered him a bag and he did go and shamefacedly pick it up.
Having said that I have seen girls change their babys in the park and throw the dirty nappy under the bench rather than walk a couple of feet to a bin.

Yes, sickening isn't it? I'm fed up with mowing my front verge, getting a lawn mower bin full of dog poo and then getting it all over my hands when I empty the bin into the compost heap. I am now a Grumpy Old Woman - whenever I see somebody allowing their dog to poo in public without picking it up, I ask them politely to pick it up or tell them I'll follow them home to find out where they live and ask the Council to prosecute them.

A former acquaintance s of mine got fed up with a neighbour's dog pooing on his doorstep in a London mews that he picked it up, put it in a paper bag and dropped iton the neighbour's doorstep. When he heard the neighbour coming to the door he set fire to the paper bag. The neighbour stamped the fire out, got poo all over his shoes and his hall carpet, and such a feud ensued that they ended up never speaking to each other again.

I'm not a dog owner but will remember to carry a spare bag with me in future to hand to dog owners I catch in the act.

I remember when I first got my dog. She was always stopping and starting examining every pierce of grass. We went past a man and she stopped for a short while sniffing and as we walked on he started having a go at me for not picking up the poo (there was not any) and I walked on. I got really angry and I went back to his house, knocked on the door and asked for an apology, which I got. Sorry just making a point that this was six years ago and I wouldn't have thought twice about saying anything then.
It's disgusting. It is not only everywhere in parks but in pathways and even done in the town centre. Last week I saw a programme on T.V and it showed kids that took some onto the bus and rub it all over the seats.
All dog owners who let their dogs crap in public places & don't bin it, should have their noses rubbed in it - not the dogs!

I feel guilty when it goes in public, even though I always pick it up. The dog just looks at me as if to say, 'what do you want me to do, suck it back in?'

Handy hint - Those special scented bags make lovely hand warmers once full, on those cold winter days. And they make you smell all artificially floral.

Handy hint - please ensure your dog doesn't leave traces of dog poo in public places, especially football pitches & parks, otherwise some poor unsuspecting child may end up with the dreadful disease Toxocara.

My neighbours son did & he lost his eye at just 5 years old!
