bird scarer

can any of you older folks remember makeing 'snappers' from sheets of strong paper, the instructions came in one of the comics, only i thought that the snap they made might scare the birds off the new veggies without harming them, but i can't remember how to fold the paper to get this effect, but i i do remember it was quite loud.

Just string a load of old cd's around your veggies, the flicking reflective lights will keep the birds off.
Or cover your veg with netting (available at the 99p shop), until they are strong enough for the birds to wonder through then. Remember you need the birds to eat the bugs!
we use old CD's too, ratter.

thanks so much ratter, we have cd's by the score, that they ignore, and netting that some birds seem able to get under (pigeons mostly) and some little birds get their feet tangled in it so we have to get the scissors to cut them free, this snapper might just be something that is new to them and hopefully will keep them off, we have planted another row of pea's today, they have already eaten two lots, little sh, darlings.
How would you like living in a world without birds.
