has any one added their spouse to their house deeds. This should have been done years ago, and got waylaid. Trying to get our house in order before we pop our clogs. land registry have quoted us £50 (minimum?)

Has anyone done this , and how much did it cost you? (solicitors?)

replies much appreciated x pusskins

Pusskin, no I haven't - it's my house, I have just left it to him in my Will.
any solicitor will charge you more than land registry as you will need to pay the land registry fee plus solicitor's cut on top!

many many thanks boxtops --woofgang.

I'm expecting a phone call to put my mind at rest concerning exactly what to do about it all. Maybe land registry is the best thing then, not solicitor. Maybe much cheaper for us. many thanks for replies . x pusskins
A couple of points:

1. If you've still got a mortgage (or any other form of charge against the property) you won't be able to change the title register without the lender's permission ;

2. You'll need to consider whether you want to be 'tenants in common' or 'joint tenants'. Explained here:
