My cleaner mentioned today that she'd had to de-ice her rabbit's cage and put more bedding etc in the cage and a blanket over to keep it warm. When I asked where it was kept she replied it was in the shed!
Now I know nothing about real rabbits but aren't you supposed to keep them indoors in winter?

True story - My mates GF said totally innocently the other day that her new rabbit was too big and lively and she wished she had never got it. (Rescue rabbit from RSPCA, but we laughed our heads off) she didnt twig for ages! haha
Rabbits will be fine outside in winter but they will need a bit more food and bedding.
And yes... should be inside during cold spells. LIKE NOW!!
very good - thats got my vibrator laughing

I was in the office one day and a manager kept calling someone an eager little beaver.....I had to walk out.

Okay who's telling the truth.....
Go and have a look at a rabbit burrow in the wild and check it for central heating.
100% true story mine. She is one of those lovely, yet naive girls!
Rabbits survive in the wild by ensuring that their burrows are well-insulated with lots of bedding to nestle in.

Providing the same sort of thing holds true in a hutch and it is protected from the worst of the weather........it should be fine.

True Chuck..............should I boot the dog out?
Question Author
Thanks jack.............I won't give her a pollicking then, I was just a bit shocked when she told me (never having had a rabbit myself)
Question Author
or even a rollicking..........
aside from the fact the dog would be a bit miffed at being thrown out it also wouldn't be a great idea because it probably hasn't grown a full winter coat (as it doesn't really need one being a house pet) if it had been kept outside from the summer so it had time to grow a thicker coat as it got colder it would be fine outside with some warm bedding and shelter though.

Most animals can survive winters outside if they have time to adjust to it, they wouldn't have got very far in history if they couldn't.
what a silly answer from chuck it is the poor rabbits that have no central heating. that are always having rumpty tumpty to keep warm down in there little bury
They're nice in stew or roast with sage and onion stuffing. lol

Okay Chuck..............I'll let him back in now :-)
Tell her to make sure it's water thing hasn't frozen over!
my rabbits have roamed free and only went into their hutch a few days ago. They are eating loads and have all grown super-thick fur coats. My chickens too, are ok outside.
Gotta admit, im a softy, id have brought it inside.
