Went to playgroup today and Father Christmas came to see the kids. My two year old twins both freaked out and I picked them up. I was sitting on top of a cupboard with my feet on a chair and both children were clinging to me, one on one knee and one standing on the chair. Father Christmas (bless him) did his best to try and calm them down and tried to kindly stoke my son's leg (not in a yucky way) - but he was stroking my leg (didn't feel I could say anything as he was trying to be nice) but he was stood there for flipping ages!

... and you're going back tomorrow? lmao
and we know you enjoyed it.................
sherrard - sorry but I am giggling here. What a grotto thing to happen to you. What did you think of Father Christmas' presence?
do you mean his beard ttfn ?

I didn't know where to look as I had caught the eye of someone else who had seen what he was inadvertently doing and I couldn't stop giggling, plus I was trying to stop the little ones crying and, to be honest, I find Father Christmas a bit creepy.
I suppose he was wearing thick white gloves which would have de-sensitised his sense of touch somewhat?
^ sorry too much sense there LOL
Question Author
No glove - just a rather small, old man (but he was trying to do something nice for the kids).
how are you and the family feeling today sher ? did santa give you a present ??
Question Author
Thanks for asking Anne - everyone is on the mend but the twins (hate that word) are still poorly and the boy is coughing fit to burst and his ears are still manky. A couple of days in the house (Asda is bringing the food tomorrow - fingers crossed) and they will be all sorted for next weekend. Hope you and yours are all ok. x
poor wee soul. i am well thanks. i suppose in winter and 5 children one or other is going to be ill at some time.
Sorry sherrard but had to laugh at that. Glad I'm not the only one who finds Father Christmas creepy. I used to hate it when mum took us to see him at the local store and always cried for my dad.

Hi Jan - took the kids to see him once in my childhood home town (we don't live there anymore) and he was really creepy. He kept saying to me 'I know you, don't I?', didn't know if it was part of the 'act' or if he was some old bloke I was supposed to know. And you have to keep calm and not scare the kids in front of him, all a bit weird really. Very strange that we let some stranger in a costume get all 'friendly' with our children at this time of year.
My three year old neice saw Santa recently and she was frightened of him. The other day she said to me "Father Christmas won't come to our house will he?". I said he would, then realised she was scared of him so I said he would only come when her Mum and Dad were there and she wouldn't see him.
I wonder if THIS is the Father Christmas that was stroking sherrardk's leg? LOL
