I love Sphynx cats and have been wondering about them, so does anyone know these answers?

1) How did the Sphynx come about, how was it bred to be bald.

2) What would happen if a Sphynx bred with a regular cat, what would their offspring look like?

3) Can Sphynx's only ever be house cats?

4) Do they have a similar life expectancy to regular cats?

5) Are the more affectionate and do they have more character and personality than other cats?

6) How often should they be bathed?

Thanks

(Excuse me for interrupting Velvetee).

How do Mr Pickle! Great to hear from you on AB.

:o)
The pictures are enough to make you cringe. Now I know what lurks beneath the coats of my two feline terrors - and it ain't pretty.

Awwwww!!!! They're not so bad! Sort of cute, in their own way.

I once knew a man who owned a completely bald parrot, and tbh, because it was so "ugly", it was endearing!
Hey Ice, was that parrot completely bald, ie even its head? I ask because parrots pluck themselves when they are bored or depressed. But the head is a place where they can't reach to pluck, of course.

Thanks In a pickle. I think they are an acquired taste, but from photos on various sites and films on You Tube, they seem so loveable and fun loving. I believe they are quite high maintenance, as they need to be bathed once per week, due to their skins secreting an oily substance.

I have to say, the darker hued ones do look better than the pinkish ones, which look a bit like raw chickens. They do seem to be more sought after in the US.
Hi chappie! Yes, the parrot was completely bald and looked like a plucked chicken! Apparently, such birds often don't live for too long, but this one was about 4 years old, and after my initial gasps of shock, I thought he was lovely!!!
Could he talk, Ice?

Do ya know what species of parrot he was? I've got an African Grey and a Macaw. I've never heard of one that's completely bald - poor thing. Or did he seem content in himself?
