Dolly is 13 month old and we had her speyed after her first season, mid August. It looks like she is having another season. Our male dog has become very interested in her again and she is bleeding from her back end again and her temperament has changed. She is really soppy! It would appear that the op didnt work the first time or could it be something else. I didnt think that she would come in to season quite so soon again??

Please take your dog back to the vets, today if possible, there is no way that a spay operation wouldn't work as the ovaries and womb are completely removed, I have assisted with a number of these operations so have seen what happens, please, please take her to the vets!
Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. We will take her to the vet this afternoon - wish me luck! (we moved to France 6 months ago and our French vocabulary is limited)
i know in spain they only tend to remove the ovaries and leave the womb so they still have a season they cannot get pregrant though

... just to conclude, the vet said that it is quite common for this to happen after speying. There is a gland that can continue to be active (he did say the name) and this is what is happening to Dolly. He assures me she has cannot become pregnant as she has definately been speyed.
Never heard of it not working before, most likely a phantom pregnancy.
There are three parts to the cycle
Comeing into heat, in heat, and going off heat and are roughly seven days each.
The mid seven days are when the bitch is most llikely to conceive.
But mother nature does not always keep to the rules, I still think it`s a phantom but I would keep them apart just in case.
