I am trying to fit a new corner basin in my downstairs loo, the only leak I have is from the metal plug hole part of the waste
http://www.bathstore.com/_application/bathstor e/products/basins/corner-basins/
it comes with 2 white soft sealing washers but it still leaks, is there any compound that can be used with modern plumbing which would help, I have plumbers mate but not sure if it should be used these days, the leak is not from the thread but from where the seals are

you are right, I know there is tension from the sink to the waste outlet because I was trying to fit a new sink and use the existing outlet thru the wall, since I finished it I have realised a better way, don't I always, but have stopped the leak anyway now
thanks all the same
