wasn't it for...mushrooms? not sure who financed it, whether it was a government 'healthy eating' thing or an association of mushroom growers or whatever, but pretty sure it was just for mushrooms in general
Yeah. It was just for mushrooms in general. No particular type of mushroom.Just mushrooms.Mushrooms.....funny word that. (Note to self-Take medication.)

Finally, someone else has heard of this slogan! All my friends think I'm completely crazy when I quote it!

From what I remember it was an advert in the mid 1980s and it was broadcast by the agricultural department of the government as mushrooms sales were so low that they were going to waste and the government wanted people to eat healthily.

I think it went 'make room for the mushrooms' and there were pictures of cartoon mushrooms all walking along in the advert. Either that or that's a remnant of a very messed up dream....

the only 3 people where I work who remember the ad all hate mushrooms. We think we must have been traumatised by it. Of the rest of you who saw it - do you like mushrroms?

I didn't use to like mushrooms but I'm quite a fan these days, so the advert didn't put me off I'm afraid.

Wasn't it "Make room for the mushrooms"?
It was infact, "Make way for the mushrooms". It is the most memorable advert in my head. I used to say, "Make way for the bathrooms" as I was young and anarchic, but no, it was indeed, "Make way for the mushrooms".

Enjoy mushrooms
