What is soda water

I often drink lime and soda water in the hot weather when i am in the pub but driving home. But what is soda water?? I didnt think it was the same as lemonade but is it?? The pub we use the most has it in the gun/trigger type of thing where coke and lemonade come from too? I imagined it to be more like carbonated mineral water??

Used to be the cheapest drink in the pub , when the old fashioned soda bottle used to be on the bar . Don't see them much these days and as you say they come out of the trigger dispenser now and you get charged a lot more .

as most soda waters contain bicarbonate of soda, it could act as a laxitive if a lot is drunk or you have a delicate stomache.

the soda gun we have in the pub has carbonated water/soda water in the main pipe - you then get boxes of syrups (pepsi, diet pepsi, lemonade and tango) and whatever button you press brings suryp and soda and mixes it as its poured into the glass - but there is a soda button which doesnt mix in any suryp - sometimes you get a glass of pepsi or whatever and it tastes 'off' and weak - this just means that the box mix has finished and needs replacing.
