I work for a commercial cleaning company. I work with  and autistic man. I've been working here about a year and a half. In one of the buildings we clean, someone drinks a lot of redbull, and piled them up in a blue bin in the break room. My co worker puts them all in a bag, and puts them in the janators closet. They've been sitting there ever since I started working here. My coworker said that the lady who drinks them said we can take and recycle them, so I too them and recycled about 2 bags out of six. I still have six bags.  Well, she left a note asking were all the cans went. I don't know what to do. I was gonna bring back the cans I didn't recycle, and then give her the money I got from the recycled cans. I'm freaking out. I don't want to get fired. I don't want to tell anyone that my co worker said I could take them because I don't want him to get in trouble.

Fall on your own sword.

You took 2 out of 6, or 8?

There were 6 bags. I took all of them. I recycled two bags, so I have 4 left.

A year and a half of Red Bull cans?  Sounds a lot of bull to me!

How much money did you get for the 2 bags you recycled. A few £s /$s?

Return what you have left and tip them in the bin. If it's obvious some have gone then confess.

Your co worker won't get into trouble, jeez is this what teenage angst is these days?

just tell the lady you have disposed of them as you didn't realise they needed keeping.

This stuff impacts my mental well-being.

Please desist.

I hope you don't see this one, douglas9401- it might tip you over the edge.

All sorted over there now, thanks. 😄

Throw them away and stop worrying about everything.

A simple mistake/misunderstanding is not a sackable offence - no need to make a mountain out of this molehill. Tell the Red Bull lass and see what she says.

But could be considered theft given that Cindy sold the items- that's why I asked how much she'd got for the recycled cans, to see whether it was, say, 50p or £20

newmodarmy...cindy says they were recycled, not sold.

Am I wrong to assume we are talking about empty tins?

Cindy said she got money from the recycled cans, pasta. She asked whether she she should hand over this money.
