Exactly, chinadoll, but that is so it appeals to the target audience - the smug, arrogant Chelsea-tractor drivers who like to feel superior. Those of us who find the advert belittling are unlikely to consider buying a landrover in the first place. Just to clarify - I have no objection to landrovers per se, they are essential in many rural areas (such as where I come from). It's the 'luxury' 4x4 owners who have to negotiate the difficult terrain of Hampstead Hill on the school run that this advert is aimed at. ;o) |

I own a Land Rover Defender, which for me being a shepherd is the best vehicle on the market. To me the advert makes sense of that Land Rovers are go anywhere vehicles, snow, forest, swamp etc. I feel that it is being a bit unfair to Land Rover calling their vehicle "an ugly metal monster". If you drove any Series Land Rover or Range Rovers etc, you will be amazed by how wonderful these types of vehicles are. I do disagree about having a 4x4 when you drive round London; but this adverts shows a "go anywhere vehicle" in a terrain where it can go anywhere. I stick to Land Rovers motto of being the Best 4x4xFar. |

(Thu 12:32 05/Jan/06) I don't think anyone begrudges a shepherd owning a Land Rover, sam-robinson - it's the parents on the school run blocking the roads with the things, usually with just one little Toby or Jacasta rattling around in the back like a walnut in a tumble dryer. I haven't seen the ad myself yet, but as brachiopod says, it sounds as though the ad company knows its market. | |

(Sat 21:23 21/Jan/06) Inexcusably patronising. What - if only those poor primitive Inuits had nice big comfy cars like us, look how happy they'd be? Horrid. |
