Why are we dragging our feet here, surely people would get the message loud and clear if there was to be a directive like a lot of Europe have adopted to instruct a total lockdown, Priti Patel has said it isn’t appropriate for police officers to be put in and around supermarkets,I’m a BJ ‘fan’ but I do feel stronger measures need to be put in place now rather than later to combat this deadly outbreak

I’m a BJ ‘fan’
just like my husband
Not sure how it would work. Would you have to prove you were going to work and your job was essential, going shopping (and really needed to shop urgently), dropping children at school, not walking the dog/exercising excessively.
I do think some people are too casual though- just went to ger some milk and tried to keep my distance but people kept looking over my shoulder as I stopped at some shelves , and then the person on the till was touching cards, cash, baskets while eating crisps. Saw some one doing a driving lesson and a few vans with two people in
they are cebating a bill that runs to 329 pages, and covers many more aspects of the current crisis, other than legal provisions for a lockdown -

for instance, on one hand the matter of the NHS being severely short-staffed and on the other, the fact that there are said to be 540 highly qualified healthcare professionals in limbo awaiting asylum claims who currently can't work.

give them a break, eh?
Bednobs; haven't met a guy yet who isn't a fan:-))

The brutal truth is you can’t enforce divisions distancing. It’s not practical. You just have to encourage people to do their best.
“social distancing”
The police/army could interevene and have a word with people but there's little chance of anyone being charged at the moment with everything else going on- courts closed, police stretched
The trouble is that the Police and the Army are made up of individuals who also have the health of their loved ones, and their own to consider.....
I wondered how a police officer could reasonably suspect someone of having the virus.

The current advice does not stop self isolators going shopping if they’ve no choice.
We are on lockdown for anything unnecessary. People in apartments can walk their dogs. Chemist and supermarkets open but strictly limiting numbers inside at any one time. Limited queuing observed outside. No panic buying, plenty of stock. No school for anyone. People without gardens 1 adult can walk with a child but all playgrounds shut. Walks on the beach ok but wide distances being kept. Vets and private doctors you call to go to clinic and are the only one there. Prescriptions being sent by email. As I have problems walking and cannot drive I can have my usual helpers come. Grandkids spend one day with me and mother and one day with father. Mother teaching her yoga students on line and kids doing school work via whats app classes and email.
We don't have enough police and unless the army are given powers of arrest, what would be the point of employing them to keep order in supermarkets, etc?
