perhaps because - unlike you - they didn't live in Nazi-occupied Europe, and so they thnk it's different from modern Europe, and Merkel isn't Hitler?

The blind fools...

i'm not that old jno!
well, the latest example of EU interference is cracking down on cigarette sales. Tyranny? Or not a bad idea?
How patronising. Izzard reckons half of them don't even know there's a referendum on.
Question Author
they do have their uses jno but I'm talking about the big stuff, you know subjugation of nations, that kind of thing.
I'm talking about the subjugation of the giant international corporations. They're the real powers today, the ones who have sovereignty. Look at Cameron wringing his hands over Amazon's indifference to paying tax, if you don't believe me - he's outraged but he won't do anything about it. The EU is the only body strong enough to take on Philip Morris or Amazon or Google, and they will do it.

That's the sort of thing that makes me think Britain is better off in the EU. Call me anti-British if you want, but I believe Britons are better off in than out. Without the EU they'd still be paying gigantic roaming charges on their mobiles.
Question Author
That can still be done jno, Pan European agreements and general cooperation do not require the member states to be crushed into some sort of federal mass.
The EU is run for the benefit of global corporations, jno.
Mr J2 did live through 'Nazi-occupied Europe' (he was an evacuee) and after that we recently lived in an area of France which was borderline 'Free French'. Our village had a large, cared for memorial to the villagers who were marched to the cemetery and shot by German soldiers. Families who had 'collaborated' are still shunned by the rest, the scars of bullets are still on many walls.

Now he looks me and says 'It was just like this' about a lot of things happening today. The propaganda control Goebbles had, for instance, he never believed could happen here, until this referendum. The parallels are compelling.

As someone said, the young don't really believe bad things can happen.
^^^ GRR! n the other hand, it helps the Brexiters if the young take it so lightly. :0)
//why is it that the young cannot see the tyranny in our midst?//

er because there is no tyranny to see ?
//er because there is no tyranny to see ?//

None so blind as they who will not see.
The EU is rotten to the core but strangely is supported by most of the AB virtue-signallers. Just the sort of people one would expect to be against it. It's a bit of a mystery.
Did anyone see Harriet Harman making a complete fool of herself today. She was saying what a great thing the EU was. Brillo put up pictures of the top 5 men in the EU (with names underneath) and she'd never heard of any of them. Lol.
^Oh dear. :o)
Your question should possibly be titled 'why do the young not have the same prejudices as me'. Think about it.
We all know the answer to that, Zacs. It's a combination of them being gullible and thinking they know more than they actually do. Bit like one or two ABers really.
Au Contraire Sweaty, I think some ABers assumption that the young are uninformed is way off the mark. The apathy possibly stems from looking to their elders and seeing them come up with ridiculously exaggerated scenarios and xenophobia which they just don't equate with their lives.
‘Prejudices’, ‘xenophobia’? Used without explanation those words are simply aimed for the purpose of browbeating the opposition into silence.
