I know what you mean trt, supposed to have pee'd down here yesterday yet it was bright sunshine all day !.
It's that old saying, something about "cast not a clout till May be out"

Lovely sunshine here and still haven't had any of the predicted rain.
To quote from the BBC's weather centre ....."The weather beyond about a week ahead stretches even the most experienced weather forecaster"

Its all depends on that pesky Jet Stream !

It's just started raining here. Lovely sunshine today, but cold. I had to plant out some pansies and Rob Roy daisies which I bought for a bit of instant colour in the front handkerchief garden - now worrying about the poor little things.
whirlyhurly - I learned:-
Don't cast a clout 'til May be out
It really is too soon
For casting clouts, because 'tha knows
Winter begins in June!

That rhyme must be ancient so what's new?
It wont happen. It is a ploy. If the weather is bad they got it right. If the weather is good you will be so pleased you wont say anything.
