I have had 2 questions removed from AB. One was because it had been duplicated and the other was possibly too contentious; if that's the correct word.( perhaps the word is contagious because it would have infected others with my complaint.) Furthermore, for unknown reasons, I have had 13 answers taken out.

It is my view that respondents/correspondents and all other ABers should be made aware of the reasons for the non publication of printed submissions to AB. I wouldn't mind if any of my communications are removed and it is published along the lines of......"vivandorron--Answer removed--Offensive" or "Question removed--Obscene" etc.

You may agree that, if we all knew the reasons for items being removed, all ABers would have an indication of the type of individuals who are corresponding in the columns of AB.

Ron I agree it can be frustrating, the answers removed often indicates the whole thread was pulled and takes everyone with it.

I am astonished to see in my profile

Q's Reported 6 Removed 3

A's Reported 0 Removed 83
Don't worry about the answers Ron, if you post an answer on a thread that is later removed it increases your removed answers (I'm over 100 now and I think I've only ever had about 2 or 3 of my answers removed due to the content of them)

I've had two questions removed also, but I can remember both the questions and I know why they got removed without having to be told.
Maybe things have changed since the techies revamped the site but Chuck's answer wasn't correct in the past. I've posted several times in threads, which have later been removed, without my 'removed' count going up.

However I do know that double-clicking the 'Submit Answer' button (or clicking it a second time if nothing much seems to happen after an initial click) causes AB's system to regard it as a duplicated post, resulting in an addition 'removed answer' appearing on your count. (To the best of my knowledge, that accounts for all 28 of my removed answers - out of over 17,000 posts).

Chris
I've had answers removed when (fool) I have posted in an offensive thread and the whole thread's been pulled. On relfection if a poster is zapped on someone else's thread, then only their answers remain. The problem with removals (unless you have been removed because you were, as you say, contentious) is that if the OP is pulled, everything connected with it is, too.

I am able to understand all that's been said folks. However I am not bothered about my Questions and Answers being 'pulled' It's a matter of my wishing to establish the identities of those individuals who have responded and had their answers removed and a reason for such. I then think I and other ABers would be better equipped to deal with them in the future; with perhaps an element of caution.

ron, you think you´ve got problems? i had the nerve to have a go at the untouchable CB, and maybe opened a few wounds, just told it as it is. all i said if you remember was, dont you think CB has 1 too many whingers, i dont think it lasted more than a few hours. what happened to demogracy?
This is NOT a democratic site, piggynose..........and there is no good reason why it should be.
I was looking for that question piggy....
Ron
They've gone
Move on xxx
ok jack, as you appear to be in the know, why do some threads seem to last forever, and others minutes, eg the famous so called 16yr old molly
No idea.............piggynose, no idea.
Someone had their zapping finger on....

There was nothing wrong with your suggestion...lol
..........perhaps the editorial team thought your post was deliberately insulting to CB ?
i had a question removed asking about kemi in finland as i was off there for my friends wedding, i wasn't asking where the local crack *** store was or any thing just for info on the town, this was obviously deemed naughty so was removed, it still annoys me that i have that on my file. grrr
Question Author
I didn't think that folk were still sewing with this thread. In fact I thought that material had run-out a week back.

However, your further responses indicate that there is a case for us to be given reasons for items being removed.

Ron
I had a question removed (I couldn't even remember what it was) and the Ed (finally) said it was because it was stupid and therefore not really needed on the site.

so that's nice!
there are hundreds of posts like that on here that are heralded as great regardless of their stupidity

Im not a fan of favouritism to certain users, they should be consistant with post removal and banning.
Question Author
Pity sara you can't remember the question because you could have slipped it into this thread for us to comment. Having said that, I don't think I can remember the items I have had removed.

Nevertheless, I go along with cazzz about the inconsistency in AB editorial.
