We often hear of people running off to the AB Ed to report this or that. There are also many who just do it without telling anyone.
Apart from downright filth, libellous insult or character assassination etc, can this practice ever be condoned?
You know, the individual who just wants to be sneaky or bitchy for whatever reason? And should whoever's being reported have a right to know who's doing it and why?
N.B. My opinion is that it is only justifiable in the extreme circumstances mentioned in my 2nd paragraph, and I believe that anyone doing the reporting should be made known to the alleged offender. It's too easy to stick the knife in anonymously.
And, yes, I'm also well aware that AB has rules (allegedly!).
Agree with all you say paraffin. Unfortunately you will always get vindictive people doing exactly as you have mentioned. AnswerBank should have a much fairer system of vetting Q&A as I for one have had Posts banned just for the hell of it so it seems, so there are hidden forces at work !!!!
If a post is reported 10 times, does it immediately get removed from the site, or is it just put to the top of the pile of 'reports' to the Ed, who then removes it?
If the post is reported 10 times it does get put onto the moderators list, then they decide if it's bad enough to be removed, or put back, which I believe some are.
''If the post is reported 10 times it does get put onto the moderators list, then they decide if it's bad enough to be removed, or put back, which I believe some are.''
So there's little point in reporting a post/thread on a Friday eve as nobody is about to deal with it until Monday...
