That was a little silly of you. He he. x
If the ads are free, and the paper is free - how do they make money?

Advertising and you do have to pay for ads on jobs houses etc.
It is normally the for sale items they put in for free.
from company advertisements .

id have thought that was obvious?
it works here in tenerife is the uk so different?
free adverts for people selling items up to 200 euros.

 did that help ?

btw im sure youve read the poapers im talking about.
Well why call them 'free ads'?????
I used to work at our local paper (part of Trinity Mirror plc) and free ads only applied to individual items for sale, such as a second hand sofa etc, plus they weren't guaranteed as to when they would go in. An ad that had to be published by a certain date (such as a garage sale) had to be paid for. Though a garage sale is just a collection of individual items, I don't know why it's different! Perhaps because it'd be too difficult then to argue what constituted a garage sale and an 'event'. However, all charity advertising was VAT exempt at least (with the correct forms filled in and the registered charity number).
exactly cab.

i thought everyone knew that?
what ad did you put in...?
Absolutely LIG.
Cassa says a local charity garage sale, above. doh
^^^ ok, thanks.
Yes, EmEd has explained very well why cassa was being charged.

Didn't you know that, Legend?

As i said through charging companies to advertise.
im reading todays canarian weekly and its got FREE ads fro items up to 500 euros now and often you will see folk advertiing in this secftion for the K9 dogs charity here if they are selling off items to rause cash or even have a garage sale .

As i said it works in tenerife why not in the uk?

I DIDNT KNOW THAT THE PAPERS WOULDNT LET FOLK ADVERTISE FOR A CHARITY EVENT FOR FREE.

Atre the newspapers owners just being greeedy ?

DID THAT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION ?
our current policy is free ads for indiv sales items upto a value of 50 and no guarentee when it will go in the paper, cassa is advertising an event which will go in a specifc part of the paper and therefore its charagble.

btw 26 is cheap!
our local free ad is up to 53 , don't
think the charity people have to pay .
