You may have noticed recently that we've introduced the new concept of Badges to The AnswerBank.

Badges are a fun (if silly) way of recognising the achievements of members of The AnswerBank.

It may also be useful for new members to know when a member has been recognised as an expert in their given category.

We've announced this before, but I hope this thread acts as a handy how-to for members unfamiliar with the badge system.

1. You can see all available badge here: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/badges/

You can click on each badge in the list to see which other members have earned that badge.

There are currently 19 badges, with more to come in the future.

2. To see which badges you have, you can visit your profile:

http://www.theanswerb...hp?cftype=user_badges

3. To see the badges other members have, you can visit their public profile by clicking their avatar and clicking the "badges" tab, like this:

http://www.theanswerb...ers/ab-editor/badges/

You'll also find that there is now a "Best Answer" tab on your public and private profiles. This means any time you get marked with a best answer, you'll be able to see it there.

Please ask any questions about badges below.

(The initial announcement thread can be found here: http://www.theanswerb.../Question1167490.html We think we've got most of the bugs - but we're always reprocessing.)

Is there a way to find out how close, or not close you are to achieving one of those Ed?

Would it not be beneficial to split the display of particular badge recipients into pages such that when you click on them you do not hang the web browser while reams of ABers (and their associated Gravatar) are dumped into one screen?

ABerrant: Yes it would, and we will.
Just out of curiosity, what are the 'numbers' required to obtain the Chatterbox badge?
Question Author
Chatterbox:

Bronze: 500 posts in Chatterbank
Silver: 1000 posts in Chatterbank
Gold: 5000 posts in Chatterbank

Still no plans for a Sarcasm badge then.............:-(
That is one fine looking uvula...
Wht happens if you know you've got an answer correct but the author of the post dosen't acknowledge the fact?
Hi China Doll

I think you should get a badge for one of the highest number of answers - so far 28088 , plus another 427 if you count the ones from China-Doll .

Incidentally , why did you change from China-Doll to China Doll ?
It was the other way round Baz, I became China-Doll for a while when Ed lost China Doll name down the back of his sofa!
i don't think your counting person can count actually, i am pretty sure i have enough CB posts to get a platinum badge
eecially as i had 25,000 answers lost as dothawkes.
How often is each badge tally reckoned up? Are those of us beavering away in the background still to be stuck with the first offering because we are quiet-like and never make best answer.
My best tab shows nothing new since June, but my best answer number keeps going up.
I didn't know I had 14 Best Answers!! Wow!! Is there a way to find out which questions they were for? An easy way.
