To be annoyed at people who go on programs like 60 minute makeover to get their houses revamped because they've lost a loved one?
I've lost several close family members and should be living in a palace if they're anything to go by.
Perhaps i'm just bitter and feeling sorry for myself.

Me either, loss to me is a personal thing, not to be aired to millions.
Arent you airing to millions now?Maybe more viewers here than that programme.
These programmes advertise and ask if you know anyone deserving and people respond accordingly, it is not always about a death, sometimes a disabled child or other life altering issue is the reason. The only way is to scrap such programmes, I find them heart warming - especially DIY SOS.
I agree hau,

I would never want to share my grief with the rest of the UK, I would prefer to keep it privately within the family.
I find diy sos is like help an idiot In some cases , some stupid guy has taken a hammer to a wall and almost wrecked the house.Or they start work and are too lazy to finish it. Dimwit sos.
I often dont like what has been done to these properties and they are often little more than advertisements for the stuff that has been put into the property. There are also usually quite tacky prints of their childrens hands etc adorning the bedroom walls. I dont think what is done is anything to envy.

Mamy, i know what you're saying but i've never seen an episode where a disabled child is involved.
Just trt ? Interesting, of course you are not wrong to feel as you do, that is your prerogative.

Teddy...no, i don't think i am.
I posted on here long ago about my 'losses'. On here i'm a virtual nobody...its not the same.
Well I have, they have installed rooms that have integrated wet rooms and those with lights to stimulate etc, maybe as I say not the 60 minute team ,- but the DIY SOS do such quite a lot.
If a family pay £20,000/30,000 in advance to a builder to build a extension etc without checking their past work, they deserve to be ripped off.
Question Author
Oh ok, i must say i've never watched that.
Have you ever watched Extreme makeover?
Once I watched it, but did not watch any more.
I've posted several times before to state that I have no concept of grief, so it would be hypocritical of me to suggest that I really understand how those people might be feeling.

However I can see that some people cope with loss by crawling into a corner and weeping, while others hold a massive wake with loud music and plenty of booze. I can't see that it's for me, or for anyone else, to say that one way is better than the other.

So, if someone thinks that getting a house makeover is the best thing for them, I can't see that anyone else should object simply because it's not they way that they'd do things.
wouldn't want it hau, am a private person!....would hate it!...
Question Author
Agreed. Like i said, perhaps i'm just feeling a bit sorry for myself.
hau kola I am in that corner with you at the moment. Feel better soon.
The programme I used to like was "How clean is your house?" I had to admire the slobs (like me) who were prepared to go public and flaunt their squalor just to get a free house clean. I bet they were like tips again after a week!
