I was just wondering what others thought. Our neighbours' gardeners come every two weeks on a Friday morning and begin work at 8 a.m. We are retired so don't need to be up early and yet we're woken by the noise of the hedge trimmer, lawn mower, strimmer and leaf blower. It's a horrible way to start the day.

You are totally unreasonable. 8a.m. when you're retired is the middle of the morning. Try getting up at 5a,m, in summer and just savour the beauty and quietness. Soooo much better than the anti-social individuals who mow their grass/strim etc on a sunny Sunday lunchtime/afternoon.

Are you mad? Why would I get up at 5 am when I've only gone to bed at 1 or 2 am? And isn't it still dark then?
With you Foxlee , if I'm sleeping anyone else making a noise is being inconsiderate - but I shan't complain because I'm being unreasonable if they're doing it after 8am. Live and let live (apart from next door's dogs).
It was quite dark this morning at 5am when I couldn't sleep and got up for a painkiller -consequently lay in till 11 ish.

Life went on around me.
Life here tends to start at 8am. Cars and vans off to work, dogs barking to be walked. Refuse lorry up and down the Close.
No, woofgang, napping later is the beginning of the end.
Not if you have spent a lot of your life waking and sleeping by shift DaisyNonna, then its just a part of life.
