When Hitler took over the Nazi Party the world did nothing. When he took over Germany and started invading his neighbours it was already too late to avoid another global conflagration that cost millions of lives and led to the genesis of nuclear weapons.

To all intents and purposes the rest of the world is standing by and watching this cancer of the Human intellect gain ever more momentum.

At what point, assuming our leaders may have learned a thing or two about how History endlessly repeats itself, are the rest of the world going to wake up and go to war against them? The earlier they do the less lives will be lost. IMHO it needs to be really soon.

If it does come to a world war, or equivalent, ISIS will certainly lose, or at least be reduced to common-or-garden terrorists rather than an actual state. The NI Boundary Commission worked against a background of Unionist thinking that the 6 Counties was the largest area unionism could hold. Slogans like, 'Not an inch', and 'What we have we hold', were the watchword of the day.
Unionists may have held the land but in doing so also held a large disaffected minority. Discrimination over the years proved they were right to be disgruntled with their lot.
Ireland might have been a more peaceful place if the Unionists of that time had settled for a smaller, exclusively Protestant, province.

All that requires is for ISIS to over-reach itself or for the world to come together and realise that it has to commit to tackling the threat properly. Air strikes are having some impact but apparently not enough of one. This means boots on the ground. It means more military deaths. It will also mean committing to staying in the region until it's actually stable (or at least far more stable than it was a couple of year ago) rather than running away from the problem for populist political reasons.

'go to war'.
Semantics surely. Would you have preferred it if I'd written 'engage in military conflict', or 'deploy a military force capable of defeating IS in battle and returning the territories they have illegally taken by force back to he people they now brutally oppress'?

Look at the Middle East and North Africa. IS had made huge gains. My point stands, the earlier the intervention the more limited the conflict. The longer we wait the more protracted and bloody it will be.

Right now they are more able to win millions of young and not so young hearts and minds all around the world through their slick propaganda because they are winning. An emphatic military defeat is needed to undermine their credibility among those susceptible to their cause.

Anyway, I'm hardly an authority on military matters, but I know someone who is;

////If (or perhaps "when") they start on Israel........./////

And that is exactly what I would ask? Why don't they? I am not suggesting that they should. But if they are what we people have been made to believe what they are then why don't they attack Israel? Why are they only killing people in Muslim countries, mainly other Muslims?
It's so sickening to hear that IS are contemplating buying a nuke - from of all people Pakistan. That's the same country which holds out its hands for millions of pounds worth of annual aid from Britain.

My answer would be . . . . . . no, I dare not say.

Perhaps you should ask your govt to stop that aid as that aid does not do any good to the normal citizen. That aid only goes into the pockets of the corrupt rulers and then through them comes back to Western banks. So why this aid is given? To dictate them to do what we want them to do. So its not aid, its bribery, commission or whatever you may call it to buy the services of a handful corrupt people who could safeguard our interest in the country.

So it's not your government then, keyplus ?.
^ :o)
keyplus - you are argumentative as ever. And on another issue . . .

Which government allowed Bin Laden to live in its country and pretended it didn't know?

That as a truly disgraceful act.

My question has confirmed my worst fears. There are those among us reading our words who support IS.

I pause as I think what I can say to you. I can say nothing, my head is already thankfully rolling into the dust at the side of the road there to serve as an example to others who dare challenge the warped IS view of reality.

There was a time before religion. There was a time before politics. There was a time when we all could have united as one species and survived. It is IS now through their gratuitous cruelty and through their knee-jerk addiction to pre-human barbarism that now threatens everything our species might otherwise have been capable of achieving.

The reason you exist is because humans can never collectively agree about anything. Never could and never will. Healthy I would say if in the spirit of common cause and progress and not genocide.

In the unlikely event that you could behead everyone alive today that disagrees with you I am certain that you would still fail.

This is because our evolutionary survival created a species-wide inherent credibility scepticism that can never be obliterated unless you kill us all.

That at getting on for 7 billion of us is a tall order. How will you cope with all the putrescence and disease? How will you explain to your children as time goes on how your barbarism wiped out so many people who would rather die than believe in your anachronistic crap?

Yes if it makes you happy I guess you challenge us. But the bar is set too high for you. Humanity has moved on. You are soon to be a footnote in the history of a planet where more enlightened minds are now trying to stop our entire species from becoming a mere footnote, if even that.
^^^Well that's put the record straight.
Who here supports IS? I'm confused.

Keyplus 90 appeared to be blaming western foreign aid, and suggesting that IS may be misunderstood because they haven't attacked Israel yet.
Maybe I misinterpreted his reasoning but while I realise no regime on this planet is squeaky clean and blameless it seemed to me he/she was suggesting that figuratively speaking we should remove the beam from our eye before trying to remove the mote from someone else's. I imagine IS would be delighted by that.
Keyplus thinks that eventually the Taliban will be considered heroes.
By whom, naomi ?.
Ask Keyplus.
I think I will, naomi.
Keyplus, why do you think that the Taliban will be considered heroes and by whom ?.
Good for you. :o)
I fear the flashpoint for war will be if Jordan is invaded by ISIS. UK & USA are allies of Jordan and wont let Jordan fall to ISIS. Similarly, Israel but Jordon is in ISIS target at present.
