Huawei Ascend Y550 Battery Life

Last week my wife and I purchased our first `Smart` phones, Huawei Ascend Y550s. Both phones require charging almost daily even if not used, although switched on. Could anyone please tell me if this is normal for this type of phone? Thanks.

My son has one and there's no problem with the battery. So no, I don't think so. However we had to replace the charger very quickly as it wasn't working properly.

I don't know anything about 'Smart' phones but, from what I have read, the Huawei Ascend Y550 in many cases has to be charged daily. If the phone is left on it will use up battery power, but I think it seems excessive if you are Not using the phone.
